LONELY WHALE

Entourage star Adrian Grenier and co-founder Lucy Sumner started the Lonely Whale Foundation to spread awareness about ocean health and the wellbeing of marine wildlife. The Foundation has started the #StopSucking campaign to educate people about the perils of one-use plastic straws in the ocean and ultimately to stop using them.







GLOBAL GHOST GEAR INITIATIVE

The Global Ghost Gear Initiative (GGGI) is a cross stakeholder alliance of fishing industry, private sector, corporates, NGOs, academia and governments focused on solving the problem of lost and abandoned fishing gear worldwide. Ghost gear refers to any fishing gear that has been abandoned, lost or otherwise discarded, and is the most harmful form of marine debris.




SURFRIDER FOUNDATION

The Surfrider Foundation, a California-based grassroots conservation group, has been fighting to protect the oceans and beaches of this country since its foundation in 1984. Surfrider's powerful grassroots network works to protect coasts and oceans by supporting water quality testing, community partnerships, beach cleanups, and more. For every dollar donated to the foundation, 84 cents directly funds programs and campaigns to protect the coast, while the rest goes toward generating future donations and covers operating costs.



OCEARCH

Famous for the online Shark Tracker, OCEARCH is a non-profit organization and a recognized world leader in generating critical scientific data related to tracking and biological studies of large apex predators such as great white sharks and other keystone marine species.

 

The Ocean Conservancy

The Ocean Conservancy focuses on long-term solutions for healthy oceans, wildlife, and coastal communities. The conservancy's current programs include supporting sustainable fisheries, working to combat ocean acidification, and restoring the Gulf of Mexico. And for over 30 years, the Ocean Conservancy has been hosting the International Coastal Cleanup, which brings together millions of volunteers to remove trash from beaches around the world.

 

 

Sea Shephard Conservation Society

Sea Shephard aims to end the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife in the world's oceans in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and species. They use innovative direct-action tactics to investigate, document, and take action when necessary to expose and confront illegal activities on the high seas. By safeguarding the biodiversity of our delicately-balanced ocean ecosystems, Sea Shepherd works to ensure their survival for future generations.

Coral Reef Alliance

Working with people around the world—from fishermen to government leaders, divers to scientists, Californians to Fijians—the Coral Reef Alliance protects our most valuable and threatened ecosystem. We lead holistic conservation programs that improve coral reef health and resilience and are replicated across the globe.

 

Coral Restoration Foundation

This foundation works to restore our coral reefs, educating others on the importance of our oceans, and using science to further research and monitoring techniques. They are dedicated to creating offshore nurseries and restoration programs for threatened coral species, allowing them to take the lead in innovative nursery and restoration techniques that are implemented worldwide.

 

 

Project AWARE Foundation

Project AWARE is a global movement of scuba divers protecting our ocean planet – one dive at a time. Focused on the critical issues of Sharks in Peril and Marine Debris, Project AWARE empowers thousands to work together for a clean, healthy and abundant ocean planet.
